Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, NE - Eager to exact some revenge, the Omaha Beef professional indoor football team welcome the Billings Outlaws to the Omaha Civic Auditorium and "The Slaughterhouse" in a crucial Western Conference showdown that could have major playoff implications. The game will kick off Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
In their last action, the BEEF defeated their rival, the Sioux City Bandits, 53-47 last Saturday evening at the Tyson Events Center to win their seventh game in-a-row. The 8-2 start after 10 games is tied for the second-best in team history, joining the 2003 season and is only behind the team's 10-0 start in 2001.
In the game against the Bandits, James McNear led the way offensively with 210 yards of total offense (52 rushing and 158 passing) and threw for six touchdowns. Five different BEEF players had offensive touchdowns with R.J. Rollins leading the way with three (one rushing and two receiving), Blake Fuchtman caught two while Javon Bell and Ken Horton each caught one.
Defensively, Brent Hafford led the way with a team-high 13.5 tackles and also added an interception. On special teams, Rollins led with five kickoff returns for 88 yards while Ricky Lebeda provided 11 points on two field goals and five extra points.
The two teams met in week 1 with Billings beating Omaha 70-37 at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. The Outlaws come to Omaha having defeated the Bloomington Extreme 60-26 last Saturday at home. Billings currently sits at 6-3 in third place in the Western Conference, just a game and a half behind the BEEF and a game behind Sioux Falls for second place.
Head Coach Steve Warren says the game against the Outlaws will be a key matchup.
"It will be a great conference battle," Warren said. "I'm looking for it to be a good game. We need to put together a complete game and get a win."
The game is being billed as "Armed Forces Night." Tickets are 50% off for Armed Forces personnel with military ID. Free stadium horns will be given out to the first 1,500 fans. In addition to the game, the BEEF's pre-game meal will be held at Texas Roadhouse, 520 N. 155th Plaza in Omaha, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to join the BEEF for their pre-game meal at Texas Roadhouse.
