Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm and Wichita Wild will meet for the first time ever at the Sioux Falls Arena on Saturday. With a win in the game, Sioux Falls will clinch their seventh playoff appearance in the eight years of the Storm franchise. Wichita won their second game of the season last week with a 35-31 win over Colorado. Despite having a 2-7 record, this game has added importance for the Wild as they are only one-game out of second place and three games out of first place in the East Division.
Wild quarterback Matt Kelly started last week in the victory. He passed for 126 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Efi Eyo also spends time at quarterback for the Wild and is the team's second leading rusher with 135 yards. The Wild's leading receiver is Donald Payne who has caught 31 passes for 376 yards and three touchdowns. Carlos Cavanaugh has caught nine touchdowns in just six games for the Wild.
Wichita ranks second in the league in fewest yards allowed. The Wild are only allowing 197.9 yards per game. The Wild are led defensively by linebacker Earl Henry, who leads the team in tackles with 43 and tackles for loss with 7.5. Defensive back Orlandus Williams leads the team in interceptions with three. The Wild defense is allowing 39.9 points per game, which ranks sixth in the UIF.
The game can be heard on KOOL FM 107.9 with pre-game action starting at 6:45 PM. The game can also be heard online by visiting www.siouxfallsstorm.com.
