Omaha Beef quarterback James McNear Named Player of the Week

Omaha, NE - For the second time this season, James McNear, quarterback for the Omaha Beef professional indoor football team, has been awarded Offensive Player of the Week honors by United Indoor Football.
McNear led the BEEF to a 53-47 win over their bitter rival, the Sioux City Bandits last Saturday evening at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. In the game, he completed 16 of 21 passes for 158 yards and six touchdowns while also rushing for 52 yards. In all, McNear finished the night with 210 yards of total offense.
So far this season, his second with the team, McNear leads the BEEF in both of the rushing and passing categories. He has carried the ball 71 times for 419 yards, scored nine touchdowns and is currently averaging 41.9 yards per game. McNear has also completed 141 of 217 passes for 1,384 yards and thrown 25 touchdown passes to nine different receivers.
Last season, he led the team in both of the rushing and passing categories as well. McNear rushed for 562 yards and 16 touchdowns while also throwing for 1,486 yards and 25 more touchdowns. He is a native of Des Moines, Iowa and played his collegiate football at Concordia University-St. Paul in St. Paul, Minnesota.
McNear and the BEEF will next be in action at home on Saturday when the Billings Outlaws come to town on "Armed Forces Night." Tickets are 50% off for Armed Forces personnel with military ID. Free stadium horns will be given out to the first 1,500 fans. In addition to the game, the BEEF's pre-game meal will be held at Texas Roadhouse, 520 N. 155th Plaza in Omaha, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to join the BEEF for their pre-game meal at Texas Roadhouse. Fans are also encouraged to attend the BEEF Boardwalk before every home game, which will have games, music and entertainment out near the entrance of the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
The BEEF are in their ninth year of Professional Indoor Football in Omaha, NE. Home games are played March through June.
