FIVE GREAT GAMES IN WEEK 11

Week 11 of the United Indoor Football 2005 season featured five fantastic contests on Saturday, May 28. The Omaha Beef won for just the second time on the road with a stunning 58-55-overtime victory over the Lexington Horsemen in Rupp Arena. The Lexington Horsemen dropped their first game after three straight victories. The Beef and Head Coach Robert Fuller outscored the Horsemen 34-24 in the first half, but the Lexington defense kept them out of the end zone in the third quarter. Lexington and Head Coach Bob Sphire, now 6-4 on the season, dropped the contest despite six touchdowns passes from quarterback Dusty Bonner. Bonner was 19-37 passing for 225 yards, with three interceptions. Wide receiver Chad Spencer caught six passes for 84 yards with three touchdowns, while running back Randy Bell also reached the end zone three times for the Horsemen. Bell caught three passes for 32 yards with a TD, and netted 22 yards rushing on seven carries with two more touchdowns. Lexington defensive back William Mulder was credited with six solo tackles, three assisted tackles, and two interceptions. Lexington holds on the first place in the South Division. The Beef, meanwhile, rank third in the North Division at 5-4. Omaha quarterback John McMenamin was 13-25 passing for 114 yards with two touchdowns. Beef running back Rod Malone made his one catch count, as he reached the end zone on a 30-yard completion from McMenamin. Malone also scored a rushing touchdown on 11 carries for 40 yards. Up next for the Beef is a road trip to take on the Fort Wayne Freedom next Sunday, June 5, while Lexington is idle in Week 12.

In other action Saturday, the Ohio Valley Greyhounds dropped a 52-33-road contest to the Sioux City Bandits in the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena. The Bandits (7-3) and Head Coach Jose Jefferson broke a two-game losing streak after starting the year with six straight wins. Ohio Valley (4-5) and Head Coach Mike Blackburn were denied their third straight win. Bandits quarterback Jarrod DeGeorgia was 9-16 passing for 136 yards with four touchdowns. Wide receiver Johnny Ostermeyer recorded two touchdowns on two catches for 33 yards, and running back Fred Jackson reached the end zone four times. Jackson logged 17 carries for 89 yards with three touchdowns, and caught two passes for 38 yards with another touchdown. The Bandit defense kept Greyhound quarterback Antoine Taylor in check, as he was just 6-14 passing for 76 yards with two touchdowns. Taylor logged 10 carries for 62 yards. Running back Terrance Glover scored twice on 11 carries for 33 yards for the Greyhounds. The Bandits host Black Hills next Saturday, June 4, while the Greyhounds host the Peoria Rough Riders.

A North Division contest for South Dakota bragging rights was on the line as the Sioux Falls Storm entertained the Black Hills Red Dogs. Sioux Falls won their forth-straight game with a 55-15 victory in the Sioux Falls Arena. The Storm scored 55 points despite just 139 yards of total net offense. Sioux Falls quarterback Terrance Bryant was 10-16 passing for 102 yards with two touchdowns, and running back James Jones scored twice on 11 carries for 24 yards. Bryant also reached the end zone once on three carries. Black Hills kicker Ton Ton Luzayadio hit field goals of 18, 20, and 47 yards for the Red Dogs. Quarterback Frank Borba was 18-33 passing for 112 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions for the Red Dogs. Black Hills wide receiver Mario Patton reached the end zone once on none catches for 71. Sioux Falls (7-3) and Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs stayed one-half game behind Sioux City in the North Division race, while the Red Dogs and Head Coach Dick Lemke dropped to 1-8 on the season. Black Hills face a tough road contest in Sioux City next week, while Sioux Falls is idle.

In Evansville, Indiana, the Peoria Rough Riders battled to a 39-28 win over the Evansville Bluecats in Roberts Stadium. Peoria and Head Coach Bruce Cowdrey started 2005 with two wins but dropped six straight games before winning on Saturday. Evansville and Head Coach Ollie Guidry won three straight games before losing 42-49 to Sioux Falls in Week 10. The Rough Riders broke a 13-13 tie at the end of the first quarter with 23 points in the second quarter and held the Peoria defense held the Bluecats scoreless in the second half. The only score by either team in the second half was a 21-yard field goal by Peoria kicker Matthew Russell with 13 and a half minutes left in the game. Peoria quarterback Walter Church was 12-22 passing for 163 yards with two touchdowns. Running back Brandon Robinson reached the end zone three times on 17 carries for 62 yards for the Rough Riders, while wide receiver J.R. Taylor scored twice on four catches for 48 yards. Evansville quarterback Ramon Robinson was 16-35 passing for 202 yards with two touchdowns. Bluecats wide receiver Byron Curtis scored once on five catches for 74 yards, while fellow receiver Gerald Clark caught seven passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Peoria and Head Coach Bruce Cowdrey improved to 3-6 on the year and will travel to take on the Ohio Valley Greyhounds next week. The Bluecats and Head Coach Ollie Guidry fell to 5-4 on the season. Evansville travels to Huntsville, Alabama, to battle the Tennessee Valley Raptors next week.

The Fort Wayne Freedom remains the UIF's only undefeated team after a 45-20 victory over the visiting Tupelo FireAnts on Saturday in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Tupelo and Head Coach John Fourcade have dropped three consecutive road contests, while the Freedom and Head Coach Matt Land have won nine straight games. The Freedom built a 31-9 lead at halftime and coasted to the win. Fort Wayne quarterback Bryan White was 15-22 passing for 161 yards with four touchdowns. White connected with Jeremy Dutcher, Rocky Harvey, Adrian Reese, and Luther Stroder with touchdown passes. Harvey also scored twice on 16 carries for 70 yard rushing. Reese caught four passes for 67 yards, and Dutcher netted 50 yards on five catches. Cecil Lester reached the end zone once on nine carries for 64 yards for the FireAnts. Tupelo wide receiver Laquonne Holden reached the end zone once on six catches for 40 yards. Tupelo kicker John Michael Marlin added field goals of 51 and 22 yards. Fort Wayne improved to 9-0 on the year, while Tupelo fell to 2-8 in 2005. The Freedom will host the Omaha Beef next Sunday, while the FireAnts host the Black Hills Red Dogs on June 10. WEEK 11 PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK AWARDS

Omaha, NE – United Indoor Football is proud to announce Players-of-the-Week awards for Week 11 of the 2005 season. Weekly awards are presented in three categories: Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

Week 11 Offensive Player-of-the-Week is quarterback Ramon Robinson of Evansville. Robinson, a Benedict College graduate, completed 16 of 35 passes for 202 yards with two touchdowns in a 28-39 loss to the Peoria Rough Riders last Saturday. The 6'2", 225 pound Robinson also recorded one rush for eight yards. Robinson and the Greyhounds will travel to Huntsville, Alabama, to battle the Tennessee Valley Raptors on Saturday, June 4.

Sioux City's Jesse Wavrunek is the recipient of the Week 11 Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor. The 6'1", 240-pound defensive lineman logged 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks in a 52-33 win over Ohio Valley last Saturday. The Sioux City West High School and Wayne State College graduate also logged his first interception of the season. Wavrunek and the Bandits will host the Black Hills Red Dogs on Saturday, June 4.

Wrapping up the Week 11 awards in the Special Teams category is Tupelo kicker John Michael Marlin. The 5'9", 170-pound graduate of Mississippi State University connected on field goals of 51 and 22 yards for the FireAnts as they dropped a 20-45 decision to the Fort Wayne Freedom. Marlin and the FireAnts host the Black Hills Red Dogs on Tuesday, June 10.

Since it opened in September 1994, the Omaha Ronald McDonald House has served families from 44 states and six countries.

These families come to the Omaha area for medical treatment for their children. They come to Omaha to be with their sick child, and the Ronald McDonald House provides them with a place to temporarily call home.

The Omaha Ronald McDonald House is near most area hospitals. The House includes family rooms, a large kitchen and dining area, a recreation room, a playroom, a laundry facility, a sun porch and ample parking.

Referrals to the Ronald McDonald House come from medical staff and hospital social workers. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Families are asked to pay $7.50 per day.

The Ronald McDonald House operates through the generosity of many people, businesses, community and civic organizations, and the Nebraska and western Iowa McDonald's owner/operators.
