
Week 12 Gives Storm Rest

Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) take week 12 of the season and receive a bye, their second of three bye's on the 2005 season. Currently the Storm sits second in the North Division with a 7-3 record, just ½ game behind the Sioux City Bandits (7-2). If the season were to end today, the Storm would receive a first round home game in the playoffs and the 4th seed out of the eight teams that make this years playoffs. The layout in the playoffs would see the top three seeds being the division winner, which, if it ended today, would give Ft. Wayne the number one seed, Sioux City second, and Lexington the third seed. The top two teams from each division automatically are given a spot in the play-offs with the last two seeds given to the next two best records, percentage wise. The first round of playoffs will be on the weekend of July 30th, the second round to be played on the weekend of August 6th, and the Championship game to be held the weekend of August 13th.
Currently the Storm is first in the UIF as team in kickoff return yards, scoring by kicks, pass rating, field goals, first downs, and second in red zone offense, scoring defense, and pass defense rating. "Utility Man" James Jones is currently third overall in scoring with 108 points, third in touchdowns with 18, first in kick return yards with 977 along with 3 returned kicks for touchdowns, and second in all-purpose yards with 1,615 yards. With his 1,615 all-purpose yards, Jones has already broken the Storm's single season record for all-purpose yards with 6 games to go. Quarterback Terrance Bryant is currently first in the league with a 105.3 pass rating, third in passing yards with 145.1 per game, and third in total offense with 1388 yards. Adam Hicks is again leading the league in kicking as he does year after year. Hicks sits fourth in the league in scoring with 102 points, first in scoring by kick with 102, and first in both field goals (17-40) and PAT kicking (51-59). Leading the Storm in receptions is veteran Corey Walker, who also sits number 10 in the league with 35 receptions for 367 yards and 5 touchdowns. In the rushing category, Jerry Davis is leading the Storm with 268 yards and ten TD's from 62 carries. Long time defensive specialist Shannon Poppinga is having an All-Star season as he leads the league in interceptions with 8 in just ten games, which he has returned those interceptions for a total of 145 yards and two touchdowns. Linebacker Mark Blackburn, week 7 defensive player of the week with 17.5 tackles versus Ft. Wayne, is leading the league in tackles with 49 unassisted tackles and 38 assisted for a total of 68 on the year. Mark and defensive end, Austin Flyger, both have 5 sacks on the year.
The Storm will travel to Lexington, KY to take on the Horsemen in week 13 and to Tennessee Valley (Huntsville, AL) on June 18, 2005 to battle the Raptors. Sioux Falls will then be home for three straight games when Sioux City, Omaha, and Black Hills all enter the Storm Shelter. The Storm will close out the season by traveling to Sioux City on Friday, July 15th for the last game of the regular season. Week 19 will only have Peoria traveling to Ohio Valley to end the first regular season of the UIF. On Friday, July 22, 2005, the Storm will host its annual Golf Tournament which will be held at Willow Run Golf Course.
