Seattle Reign FC News Release
SEATTLE, WA. - OL Reign today announced that Nationwide will become the official Pet Insurance partner of the club. This partnership is a natural expansion of OL Reign's existing relationship with Nationwide, as the two have collaborated on the NWSL Nationwide Community Impact Award for two consecutive seasons. Nationwide has been a league partner since 2021 and has a strong track record of giving back and supporting community initiatives.
As a part of this partnership, OL Reign and Nationwide will host a pet food drive at OL Reign's match against San Diego Wave FC at Lumen Field on July 28. This drive will benefit Emerald City Pet Rescue, a local non-profit pet shelter in Seattle. Local veterinarian and pet shelter employees will be invited to the match with complimentary tickets to celebrate the work they do for the pets in our community.
OL Reign will also be expanding its pet merchandise collection in collaboration with Nationwide. Nationwide is the nation's leading pet insurer, currently protecting more than 1 million pets.
"We are very excited to build upon our partnership with Nationwide," said OL Reign CEO Vincent Berthillot. "Not only are we aligned in our values, but we've had an incredible experience working side by side with their staff for two seasons through Nationwide's Community Impact Award Program and it feels natural to expand our partnership to showcase the passion our players and community have for animal wellness."
"We look forward to the many on- and off-the-pitch opportunities this new club partnership presents for Nationwide, OL Reign, and the Seattle community," said Jim McCoy, associate vice president of sports marketing for Nationwide. "In addition to traditional sponsorship components, the upcoming pet food supply drive is a terrific way to engage supporters, support a local animal adoption organization let fans know that Nationwide offers protection for their pet family members."
Previously, OL Reign and Nationwide have come together through a shared commitment to make a positive impact in the community, on and off the field. In 2021, OL Reign won the inaugural NWSL Nationwide Community Impact award in support of the Black Future Co-Op Fund, earning a grand total of $25,000 in grants from Nationwide. The following year, OL Reign and its community partner Intentionalist won the fan vote award, earning a $5,000 grant from Nationwide.
