OL Reign Exercises Option on Forward Jordyn Huitema's Contract

SEATTLE, WA. - OL Reign today announced that it has exercised the 2024 option on Canadian forward Jordyn Huitema's contract. Huitema joined OL Reign during the 2022 NWSL season in June after spending three seasons with her first professional club, Paris Saint-Germain.

"I'm so excited to stay in Seattle and continue playing for this club," said Huitema. "Being able to train and play in such a highly competitive environment daily has helped me develop as a professional, so I'm really looking forward to what next year brings."

"OL Reign is elated to have Jordyn's contract extended through 2024 as we've already seen her develop a great deal in a short amount of time," said OL Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore. "She is a player whose ability and eagerness to continue to improve will benefit the club greatly in all ways."

Huitema appeared in all 13 regular season games in 2023 before departing to represent Canada during the FIFA Women's World Cup. This season, Huitema has made 12 starts in 16 appearances and scored five goals, tied for first on the team and eighth in the league. The forward also finished the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup with a team-leading two goals in four games, helping OL Reign win the West division.

After joining the club in 2022, Huitema appeared in all 10 remaining games for OL Reign in the regular season, making nine starts and totaling two goals and two assists in 758 minutes. The forward finished her first season ranked fifth on the team in shots (20) and was one of three players on the roster to record multiple goals and assists.

The Chilliwack native was the first Canadian woman to play professionally out of high school when she signed a four-year contract with PSG at 18 years old. At just 22 years old, Huitema has earned 67 caps (26 starts) with the Canada Women's National Team. In those games, Huitema has recorded 16 goals and six assists to help her country win the Olympic gold medal in 2021 and appear in consecutive Women's World Cups in 2019 and 2023.
