Surrendered 0 R on 2 H over 6 IP with 0 BB and 4 K in 5/05 ND @ TAC LAST GAME: The RedHawks dropped their third straight game with a 5-2 loss to Sacramento last night. The River Cats Danny Borrell pitched five perfect innings and Travis Buck drove in four of the five Sacramento runs in the victory. Oklahoma starter Eric Hurley pitched a season-high seven innings and matched his season-high strikeout tally with eight, but was only backed by one run of support in taking the loss. The loss marked the second time this season that the RedHawks have lost three straight and the first time the have dropped three in a row at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark this season.
BYRD TO REHAB HERE: Marlon Byrd will join the RedHawks today on a rehab assignment from the Rangers. The Texas outfielder was placed on the disabled list April 17 with inflammation in his left knee. Byrd was hitting .129 with four hits in 31 at bats when he was placed on the disabled list, with two doubles, a triple, no home runs and a run batted in. Byrd, the Rangers opening day right fielder this season, played 44 games for the RedHawks last year, hitting .358 with six home runs and 32 runs batted in.
ARIAS BACK AT SHORT: Joaquin Arias was back at shortstop last night, the first time this season he has played his natural position. Arias had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder (throwing arm) on July 2 last year and did not play in a game after that. Arias has been a staple in the RedHawks lineup this season, playing 14 games at second base and serving as the Oklahoma designated hitter 11 times. The RedHawks infielder had one ball hit to him last night, retiring Wes Bankston on a ground out.
TEAGARDEN ROLLS ON: Taylor Teagarden extended his hitting streak to five games with a single in the seventh inning last night. The RedHawks catcher walked in the sixth to break up Danny Borrell's perfect game and subsequently came in to score Oklahoma's first run of the game on a single by Joaquin Arias. Teagarden is hitting .375 during his run and has raised his average from .111 to .280 since May 2. The University of Texas product has reached base safely in seven of his eight games for Oklahoma this season.
FRESNO AT A GLANCE: The Grizzlies enter play 18-17 and ins second place behind Sacramento in the Pacific south... Fresno's roster features four players on the San Francisco Giants 40-man roster, including one of their top ten prospects according to Baseball America, outfielder Nate Schierholtz (4)... The Grizzlies enter play today having lost three straight games at New Orleans.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Texas beat Oakland 4-0, the third straight Rangers shutout in a row. Texas has pitched 31 consecutive scoreless innings, their longest streak since the Rangers pitched four consecutive shutouts on Apr. 27-30, 1981, producing a club-record 39 consecutive scoreless innings... Frisco lost 16-3 at Corpus Christi... Bakersfield fell 4-1 at home to Stockton... Clinton edged Peoria 7-6.
DOT-DOT-DOT: Joaquin Arias had a pair of hits last night for his 11th multi-hit game of the year, tying him with Nelson Cruz for the team lead... Oklahoma is now tied with Fresno for the second best fielding percentage in the PCL at .981 (Salt Lake leads at .983)... No team in the RedHawks division winning record this month (last place Round Rock has a division-high four May wins).
ON THE AIR: Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand. Fox Sports Radio AM 1340 in Oklahoma City will serve as the flagship station in 2008.
