Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Dean Arsene has been recalled by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Edmonton Oilers. Arsene is expected to join the Oilers in Atlanta as they prepare to take on the Thrashers on Sunday.

Arsene was named Falcons captain back on October 2 and he has played in all 16 games this year for Springfield collecting two assists and 31 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Abbotsford, British Columbia leads all Springfield defensemen in plus/minus with a +4 rating.

Arsene is in his first season with the Falcons/Oilers after being signed as a free agent by Edmonton this past summer. He spent the previous six seasons with the AHL's Hershey Bears, helping lead the Bears to Calder Cup Championships in 2005-06 and 2008-09. In 267 career games with Hershey, he totaled seven goals and 36 assists for 43 points and 674 penalty minutes. Arsene is a veteran of 333 career AHL contests.

The Falcons are back in game action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Albany River Rats at the MassMutual Center starting at 3 pm.
