Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Tulsa, Oklahoma--The Tulsa Oilers used a four goal first period outburst as the catalyst for their 7-4 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas on Tuesday night at the Maxwell Convention Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Forwards Jaroslav Cesky, Lukas Dora, Jason Bermingham, and Dan Gravelle all scored in the opening twenty minutes of the game as the Oilers raced out to a comfortable four-goal lead on the Brahmas and never looked back.

With the momentum clearly on their side, the Oilers would add to their lead in the second period, as Cesky would score his second of the game and then winger Chris Pelletier would pound home a rebound goal. Dora then capped off the Oilers big night on the scoreboard when he scored a powerplay goal, his second goal of the game, for Tulsa's only tally in the third period.

The Brahmas did manage to produce some offense in the game's final two periods, as d-man Brandon Carper scored a second period powerplay goal, his first of the season, and then forwards Martin Paquet, Chad Woollard and Benoit Genesse scored third period goals.

Bill Ruggiero, the Oilers workhorse goaltender, earned the win in net for Tulsa by stopping 43 of the 47 Fort Worth shots he faced in the game. Dan Murphy, who relieved Larry Sterling in the Brahmas net after the first period, took the loss for the Brahmas, allowing the final three Tulsa goals on the 23 shots that he faced.

The early offensive explosion by the Oilers took all the drama out of what was billed as a key Northern Conference showdown. Entering the game, Tulsa held a two-point lead over the Brahmas for the fourth and final playoff spot. With the win, Tulsa now holds a four-point edge over the Brahmas in the playoff race. The two teams will play just one more time this season, on Friday, February 25, in Tulsa.

Fort Worth, now 21-16-5, will wrap up their season high nine game road trip with a contest on Friday night, February 11, in San Angelo against the Saints. That game, with a 7:05 p.m. scheduled start time, will be broadcast live by the Brahmas on KTFW 1460 AM with the pregame show beginning at 6:50 p.m. For additional information, please contact the Brahmas team office at (817) 336-4423.
