Bucks Raise Almost $7000 For Fallen Soldier

LAREDO, Texas â The defending CHL champion Laredo Bucks raised $6,836 on Saturday night to be donated to the Juan Rodrigo Rodriguez fund. Rodriguez is the first Laredo soldier to be killed in action in Iraq. People can donate to the Juan Rodrigo Rodriguez fund at any Laredo National Bank location in Laredo. The Bucks held a memorial game in honor of Juan Rodriguez on Saturday night when they hosted the Corpus Christi Rayz. During the game the Bucks sold commemorative wristbands with the profits donated to the memorial fund. All of the wristbands ordered for Saturday were sold.
"We feel honored to be a part of helping this family during their time of grief," Bucks CEO Julian "Kiki" DeAyala said.
The Bucks will continue selling the commemorative wristbands, with the profits donated to the memorial fund, at the next home game on February 18th against New Mexico.
After the game the Bucks conducted a post-game auction, including sticks, pucks and autographed jerseys. In addition a portion of the proceeds from the tickets sold for the Saturday game were also donated.
