Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers battled back to earn a single point in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Fort Worth Brahmas in front of 5,586 at the BOK Center on Saturday night. The Oilers (19-29-4) finished a four-game home stand with a 2-1-1 record and have earned points in each of their last three contests.

Sy Nutkevitch put the visitors on the board with a powerplay goal at 6:12 of the first period when he one-timed a Tomas Klempa pass by Oilers goaltender Shane Madolora. The Brahmas (30-16-5) spent most of the first period in the Oilers zone and outshot Tulsa by a wide 17-5 margin.

Austin Mayer's wrist shot at 4:58 of the second frame pushed the Fort Worth lead to 2-0, but the Oilers responded quickly. Justin Fox tapped in a centering feed from Ryan Cramer for his first goal as an Oiler and just two minutes later, Ryan Menei rifled a shot through Brahmas' netminder Kristofer Westblom to even the score at 2-2. Menei, who finished the night with a goal and two assists, leads the Oilers with 28 goals. Fort Worth forward Phil Fox, in just his second game back off the injured reserve, tallied a powerplay goal at 12:30 to give the Brahmas a 3-2 lead heading into the third.

With Cory Schneider in the box for high-sticking, Jeff Buvinow's blast from the point sailed past Westblom to pull the Oilers even once again. The two sides went scoreless through the final 14 minutes of regulation, forcing the Oilers into overtime for the fifth time in their ten games.

Two minutes into the extra frame, Phil Fox re-directed Greg Eskedjian's shot past Madolora for the game-winner.

The Oilers finished 2-6-2 in the season series with the Brahmas and 1-3-2 on home ice.

Tulsa has a week off before embarking on its longest road trip of the season, a 10-day trek to Arizona and Denver which begins on February 23.
