Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - In a battle for sole possession of first place in the Central Hockey League, the Brahmas (29-16-5) fell to the Allen Americans 4-2 Friday night.

Allen led 2-0 after two periods of play. Brian McMillin scored the first Americans goal at 8:31 of the first period. Jarret Lukin put home a rebound at 4:16 of the second period to extend the Allen lead to 2-0.

The Brahmas got on the board at 0:41 of the third period just five seconds into a power play when John Snowden fired a wrister directly off of the faceoff. For Snowden, just two days removed from his five-goal performance, it was his seventh goal in the last three games.

Trevor Ludwig scored at 11:14 of the third period to extend the Allen lead to two goals again. But the Brahmas answered back, as Greg Eskedjian fired a slapshot from the point past Allen netminder Steve Silverthorn. The score was the Brahmas' second of the night on the power play. Fort Worth went 2-for-5 on the man advantage Friday night.

Adam Pineault added an empty-net goal with 1:13 to play in regulation, sealing the 4-2 victory for the Americans.

Brad Fogal (12-9-1) made 20 saves on 23 shots in net for Fort Worth. Silverthorn stopped 28 of 30 en route to his 15th win of the season.

With the loss, the Brahmas fall into second place in the CHL, two points behind the Americans for the top spot. Fort Worth will visit Tulsa tomorrow, Saturday, February 16, looking to extend its road win streak to seven.

The Brahmas are back at the NYTEX Sports Centre Friday, February 22 when the team hosts the Missouri Mavericks at 7:30pm.
