Edmonton, AB.: The Edmonton Oil Kings broke out of a slump with an impressive 7-1 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds. It was Edmonton's first win in five games. Oil Kings forward Clayton Cumiskey scored a goal and added an assist in his first game back after missing 15 games with a concussion.

"It pretty much went perfect for me tonight," said Cumiskey. "It feels awesome to contribute, I felt like I got my legs going after the first period."

Defenseman Mark Pysyk missed seven games with a concussion and also had a three point night in his second game back in the lineup.

"That's just what we needed, a big win like that," said the 17 year old. "Heading into Saskatoon it is good to get out of the slump. We weren't playing very good so that is a step in the right direction."

The Thunderbirds got on the board first when Sena Acolatse skated off the side boards and slipped a pass to Brendan Rouse, who was by the post for a tap in on Oil Kings goalieTorrie Jung. The Oil Kings scored a power play goal late in the period. Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard allowed a big rebound off a Pysyk point shot and Brett Breitkreuz ripped home his fifth goal of the year. Less than a minute later, Pickard could not control the puck off a Brent Raedeke shot and Logan Proulx stuck in the rebound to make it 2-1.

Raedeke registered his second of three assists in the game when his shot was tipped past Pickard by Cumiskey. The veteran forwards first goal of the year made it 3-1. Cam Maclise and Tomas Vincour added goals late in the period, less than two minutes apart, to put the Oil Kings up 5-1.

Early in the third, Tomas Vincour went on a nice rush before setting up Pysyk, who ripped a point shot past Pickard, for his first goal of the season. The Oil Kings wouldn't let up and Breitkreuz scored his second of the game to make the final 7-1.

The Oil Kings visit the Saskatoon Blades on Friday, October 30th. They return home to host the Everett Silvertips on November 1st, which is Signature Sunday. The Oil Kings players will be signing autographs after the game. Edmonton plays in Calgary on Wednesday and then they embark on a BC road trip with stops in Kamloops, Chilliwack and Vancouver.
