Hawks Score Shootout Win

Portland, Oregon -- The Brandon Wheat Kings' modest 2-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday night in Portland, as the Western Conference leading Winter Hawks scored a 5-4 Overtime Shootout victory.

Chris Francis was the only shooter among the six that participated to score as the Hawks improved their record to 12-5-0 on the season.

Jay Fehr scored twice for Brandon, who outshot Portland 40-26. Brayden Schenn and Colby Robak also scored for the Wheat Kings, who continue their season high 7-game road trip Wednesday night in Spokane against the Chiefs. Schenn's early third period powerplay goal tied the game.

Troy Rutkowski had two goals for the Hawks, who led 1-0 and 4-3 at the period breaks.

The game was played before a season low crowd of just over 1,500 fans in Portland.

With the loss, Brandon is now 8-6-0-2 on the season and 2-1-0-1 through the first four games of this western road swing.

The Wheat Kings next home game is Friday, November 6th - "Manitoba Homecoming 2010 Night" - when the Prince Albert Raiders pay their first visit of the season to Westman Place.
