Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Medicine Hat, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings kicked-off their three-game road trip this week with a 6-1 loss in Medicine Hat on Wednesday night to the Tigers.

The Oil Kings and Tigers played a dead-even first period that saw each team score once, fire nine shots on goal, win seven faceoffs and both go 0-for-1 on the power play.

Mason Finley opened the scoring for the Oil Kings with his fifth goal of the campaign at 12:26 of the period after he caught Beckett Langkow out of position and banked a puck off the heel of the Tiger netminder and in from below the goal line.

Just over three minutes later, the Tigers were able to level the score after Oasiz Wiesblatt converted a rebound in front of the Edmonton net to send the two clubs into the intermission tied at one.

In the second period, the Tigers were able to take control of the game with a couple goals in the opening eight minutes of the middle stanza.

Brendan Lee staked the Tigers to their first lead of the game with a power play goal on a perfectly placed shot from the right-circle at 5:53.

The Tigers increased their lead just 2:08 later after Brayden Boehm cashed in on a backdoor feed from Tomas Mrsic on a Medicine Hat odd-man rush.

The Oil Kings fired 10 shots of their own at the Medicine Hat net in the second period but were unable to solve Langkow as they took a two-goal deficit into the second intermission.

Early in the third period, the Tigers took a three-goal lead with another power play tally, this time a point-shot from Reid Andresen that made it's way through a crowd of bodies in front of the Edmonton net.

In the final five minutes and change of the game, the Tigers tossed in two more goals from Pavel Bocharov and Tomas Mrsic to skate away with the lopsided win.

Kolby Hay made 26 saves for the Oil Kings in the losing effort, while Langkow turned in a 25-save performance for the Tigers. Edmonton went 0-for-2 on the power play, Medicine Hat was 2-for-3.
