Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Edmonton Oil Kings (24-9-2-1) finished up the Saskatchewan leg of their road trip with a 5-2 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders (13-17-1-1) at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Oil Kings were able to get on the board first just 8:15 into the game as Dylan Guenther stripped a Prince Albert defender of the puck inside the offensive zone and setup Jaxsen Wiebe for a one-timer from the top of the right circle that he lasered past the stick side of Raiders netminder Tikhon Chaika for his fifth goal of the season.
The Raiders saw a couple of power plays fall by the wayside in the first period, but just as the second one expired, Niall Crocker tied the game as he found a loose puck behind the Edmonton net and stuffed it in the far post at 15:01 to send the teams to the first intermission with a goal apiece.
The Oil Kings restored their one-goal lead 10:43 into the second period after Shea Van Olm dropped the puck off for an on-rushing Guenther just inside the Raiders blueline and the Arizona Coyotes prospect whipped a low shot past Chaika.
Less than three minutes later the Raiders were able to level the score again as they connected on their fourth power play of the game after Ozzy Wiesblatt spotted an open Evan Herman in the right-wing circle of the Oil Kings zone where ripped a one-timer into the top-shelf.
The Raiders took their first lead of the game just 1:57 after tying the game as Reece Vitelli setup Keaton Sorensen for the go-ahead marker on a two-on-one rush.
In the third period, the Raiders were able to pull away from the Oil Kings getting two more goals from Herman as he completed his first career hat-trick to give the Raiders a 5-2 win.
Sebastian Cossa finished the night with 20 saves, while Chaika turned away 22 Edmonton shots. The Oil Kings went zero-for-two on the power play, the Raiders were two-for-five.
