Oil Kings Announce Partnership with Elite Athlete Services

(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings are proud to announce a dynamic new partnership with Edmonton headquartered organization, ELITE Athlete Services, underscoring the organization's continuous commitment to achieving excellence.

During 2023-24 season, ELITE Athlete Services will join the team as the provider of proactive mental performance and wellness services, marking a step forward in the Club's continued pursuit of excellence on and off the ice.

The Oil Kings have always strived for excellence on the ice, and this partnership is a demonstration of unwavering commitment to achieving it. In addition to physical preparation and performance, the organization recognize that mental training and well-being plays a pivotal role in the success of its athletes and organization. By investing in mental wellness through this partnership with ELITE, it will provide players with the tools and resources they need to excel as athletes, as well as individuals.

"Our organization is very excited for this new partnership with ELITE Athlete Services and working with Klaudia Sapieja, as it is important for us to be leaders in the mental wellness space," said Kirt Hill, Edmonton Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "We feel this partnership will continue to equip our players with the tools and resources to not only help their mental wellness, but their overall performance on the ice."

This season, ELITE Athlete Services will become an integral part of the Oil Kings organization, offering a comprehensive suite of proactive mental performance and wellness services. These services will be tailored to meet the unique needs of our athletes and organization members, equipping them with the resources they need to prepare, perform, recover, and remain mentally healthy individuals.

Jason Campeau, CEO of ELITE Athlete Services shared his enthusiasm, stating, "We are proud of the Oil Kings and its Management for taking action to provide their players and staff the resources necessary to pursue mental wellness and performance. This investment will not only help athletes excel today, but also equip them for the rest of their lives. Having played five years in the Canadian Hockey League and leaving home at 15 to play, I truly understand the pressure that these players are under. I believe that mental health and performance services are no longer a "nice to have", but rather a must-have, and I commend the Oil Kings for taking the steps to provide these resources."

From ELITE's perspective, the ultimate objective is to assist the Oil Kings in maintaining their current identity while elevating them to a new level of performance and wellness that surpasses all other teams in the CHL.

In addition to the pursuit of on-ice excellence, the Oil Kings recognize the critical importance of athlete mental wellness. The team believes that advocating for mental wellness is a responsibility that transcends the sport, and serves to promote holistic well-being among athletes, staff members, and community. Through this partnership, it will not only promote mental wellness within the Oil Kings, but also raise awareness of the importance of mental wellness in sport and contribute to the broader conversation surrounding athlete well-being.
