
Cougars Earn Thrilling 3-2 Victory Over Rockets, Collect Third Straight Win

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars earned an exhilarating 3-2 victory against the Kelowna Rockets on Tuesday night at the CN Centre. The Cougars' third consecutive win solidifies their position at the top of the BC Division with a record of 4-1-0-0.
The action-packed game saw forward Koehn Ziemmer, a prospect for the LA Kings, netting his first goal of the season at 11:08, with an assist from Carlin Dezainde. The game featured spirited moments, including a fight between Hudson Thornton and Trae Johnson at 16:09.
The Rockets didn't stay behind for long, as Andrew Cristall, a prospect for the Washington Capitals, capitalized on a Cougar turnover during a man-advantage, tying the game at one at 17:06. The first period concluded with the score knotted at one.
In a turn of events, Kelowna Rockets' goaltender Jari Kykkanen left the game with an injury, paving the way for backup goalie Jake Pilon. Meanwhile, Ondrej Becher put the Cougars back in the lead during the second period, receiving a fantastic pass from Koehn Ziemmer and scoring his third goal of the season. Becher's power-play goal came at 13:26, and the second period was marked by a flurry of penalties, totalling over 50 penalty minutes. The Cougars maintained their lead heading into the third period.
The third period saw back-and-forth action with limited stoppages, culminating in a Riley Heidt one-timer goal from Carlin Dezainde at 18:29, extending the Cougars' lead to 3-1.
However, the Rockets quickly responded, with Hiroki Gosjic sneaking one past Ty Young to make it 3-2 at 18:46. In the final moments of the game, the Cougars held their ground, ultimately securing a thrilling 3-2 victory.
