Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings have acquired a 2025 second-round draft pick from the Tri-City Americans in exchange for 2003-born defenceman Ethan Peters, the team announced today.

Peters, 19, is a Moose Jaw, SK product and was in his third season with the Oil Kings after being signed by the organization in 2021.

In 119 career games, he has amassed 28 points (4G, 24A), 48 penalty minutes and a +16 plus/minus rating.

Last season, he helped the Oil Kings capture their third Ed Chynoweth Cup in modern franchise history dressing in 14 post-season games and three Memorial Cup games.

Following the 2020-21 season, he was awarded the Daryl K. (Doc) Seaman Trophy as the WHL's Scholastic Player of the Year.

"We would like to wish Ethan all the best with the Tri-City Americans," said Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kirt Hill. "Ethan has improved each and every season after being a listed player who turned into a steady presence on our back end and is now a WHL Champion.

"Ethan brought great values being a leader in the classroom having won the WHL Academic Player of the Year award and has a bright future both on and off the ice."

The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is Tuesday, January 10 when they play host to the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:00 P.M.
