O'Grady Thrives as Starter, Travs Blank NWA

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers blanked the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 6-0 on Monday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

In just his second Travs start of the season and 11th professionally, LHP Chris O'Grady (W, 2-1) tossed six innings and allowed six hits (all singles) with no walks and six strikeouts. In his only other start this year, O'Grady worked five innings and allowed one run last time out five days ago in Springfield.

As a starter between Arkansas and AAA-Salt Lake this season, O'Grady has pitched 17 innings and allowed just one earned run.

RHP Josh Roenicke worked the seventh and RHP DJ Johnson needed only 19 pitches for two scoreless frames to finish the game.

Arkansas scored solo runs in the first and second innings and never looked back.

C Wade Wass reached base in all four plate appearances for the Travs, finishing 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored, a stolen base, walk and hit by pitch.

DH Andrew Daniel continued his red-hot hitting with a 2-for-4 evening. He knocked an RBI triple in the first and finished with a pair of RBIs. With a .298 batting average, Daniel is now second in the league in hitting.

Arkansas stole two more bases on Monday and moved into third place in the league with 83 on the season.

Eight of the nine Travs reached base in the game.

Arkansas pitcher did not issue a walk all night and the offense drew more walks (six) than strikeouts (four).

With the win, the Travs moved into a tie for second place with the Tulsa Drillers in the Texas League North second half standings and are one game behind the Naturals for first place. Arkansas, now 16-15 in the second half, will take on Northwest Arkansas in the middle game of the three-game series on Tuesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.
