Beloit Sky Carp News Release

DAVENPORT, Iowa - 12 hits, four home runs and a solid pitching performance to boot led the Beloit Sky Carp to a 10-4 victory over Quad Cities Tuesday night.

The Sky Carp trailed 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning when Zach Zubia connected for his 10th home run of the season to tie the game.

After the River Bandits plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Joe Mack hit his sixth homer of the season, a solo blast that made it 3-2 in the sixth. Again Quad Cities responded, this time with a single run in the sixth inning to make it 4-2.

Beloit made its move in the seventh inning, scoring three times to take the lead. Following the theme of the evening, it was a pair of homers that did the damage. Jake Thompson homered for the second straight game to bring the Sky Carp to within 4-3, and Javier Sanoja cracked his second homer as a Sky Carp to gie Beloit a 5-4 lead.

The Sky Carp put the game away in the eighth with a five-run eruption. Torin Montgomery, Ynmanol Marinez, Jake Thompson and Chase Luttrell each had RBI hits in the inning.

Jared Poland allowed just two earned runs in six innings. Yeuris Jimenez (2-2) pitched a scoreless inning to earn the win, while Breidy Encarnacion worked the final two innings without allowing a run.

The Sky Carp and River Bandits will play again Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. Beloit returns home for its final homestand of the season, a 12-game stand that opens on Tuesday, August 22 against Lake County.

The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
