Offense Continues to Roll as 'Cats Finish Sweep

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats polished off their two-game sweep of the Vermont Lake Monsters on Sunday evening with a 7-3 win in Vermont.

One night after they scored eight runs on 12 hits, the ValleyCats put up seven runs on 13 hits to complete a two-game sweep of their Stedler division rival Vermont Lake Monsters heading into the All-Star Break.

Enmanuel Valdez opened up the game's scoring by hitting his sixth home run of the year on the fifth pitch of the game.

Alex McKenna led the way for the ValleyCats offensively in his final tuneup prior to appearing in the New York-Penn League All-Star game.

McKenna went 4-for-5, including a run-scoring double in the seventh inning.

Ramiro Rodriguez added a 2-for-3 day at the plate with a team-high three runs batted in.

Austin Dennis capped the ValleyCats' offensive onslaught with his first career home run in the eighth inning.

On the pitching end, Cody Deason earned the first win of his Minor League career by allowing just one run in two and a third innings of work.

The Tri-City ValleyCats now enter the All-Star break with a record of 32-23, leading the Lowell Spinners by two games in the Stedler division.

After the All-Star game on Tuesday, August 14th, the Tri-City ValleyCats will return to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Wednesday, August 15th when they take on the Connecticut Tigers at 7 p.m.
