Offense Comes to Life, Biscuits Take Down Suns

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Taylor Motter drove in three runs while Jared Mortenson (4-0) went seven strong innings in a 6-3 win for the Biscuits (19-14) over the Jacksonville Suns (15-18) Wednesday night at Riverwalk.

Motter first came to the plate with the Biscuits trailing 1-0 in the first inning. After Ryan Brett doubled and stole third, Motter ripped a base-hit down the left field line to tie the game. Two innings later Motter slapped a two-out, two-run single to center to give the Biscuits a 3-1 lead.

Mortensen allowed a run in the first inning then settled in to hold the Suns scoreless from the second through the sixth innings. After the Biscuits opened up a 6-1 lead, Joe Benson hit a two-run homer of Mortensen to make it a three-run game. Mortensen finished with three strikeouts, allowed six hits and picked up his fourth win of the year. The Biscuits are 7-0 when Mortensen starts.

Cameron Seitzer picked up an RBI with a groundball in the fifth inning to make it a 4-1 game. Willie Argo followed with a two-run double, snapping his 0-for-17 slide and giving the Biscuits a five-run lead.

Matt Lollis (2) pitched the final two scoreless-innings to pick up his second save of the year.

Game four of the series is Thursday night at 7:05. RH Michael Colla will throw for the Biscuits. Montgomery will get their second shot at LH Justin Nicolino who went eight-scoreless innings last time he threw against the Biscuits.
