Biscuits Bounce Back, Double up Suns 6-3

MONTGOMERY, AL - Three RBI from Taylor Motter and a career high-tying seven innings from Jared Mortensen earned the Montgomery Biscuits (19-14) a 6-3 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (15-18) Wednesday night at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium.

Jared Mortensen (W, 4-0) remained unbeaten in 2014 after tying his career-high with seven innings pitched, allowing three runs on six hits along the way. Matt Lollis (SV, 2) earned his second save of the season by pitching two hitless innings to close out the game.

Angel Sanchez (L, 0-5) took the loss after allowing six runs (all earned) on eight hits in 4.2 innings, while walking two batters and striking out three.

Tyler Higgins contributed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, with Edgar Olmos throwing a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth inning.

The Suns' early 1-0 lead vanished after Taylor Motter's RBI single tied up the game in the bottom of the first.

The Biscuits took the lead for good after Taylor Motter hit a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the third to give the Biscuits a 3-1 lead.

Montgomery plated three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 6-1, before Joe Benson (HR, 2) belted a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to cap off the scoring in Wednesday's game.

The Suns and Biscuits will be back at it on Thursday at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Jacksonville sends out the lefty Justin Nicolino (2-2, 2.90) for Thursday's game four, while Montgomery will counter with the righty Michael Colla (1-4, 4.75).
