Suns Announce Roster Moves

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Montgomery Biscuits at Riverwalk Stadium at 8:05 p.m. ET.

Right-handed relief pitcher James Nygren is returning to the Suns from Triple-A New Orleans. Nygren pitched in two games with the Zephyrs, with no wins or losses and a 5.40 ERA, allowing three runs on five hits during his five innings of work on the mound. Earlier this season Nygren had no wins or losses and a 2.00 ERA in seven relief appearances with the Suns.

In a corresponding move, right-handed relief pitcher Reid Redman has been transferred from Jacksonville to High-A Jupiter. Redman made only one appearance with the Suns, working two and a third scoreless innings for Jacksonville on May 3 at Mississippi.

Also Miami Marlins second baseman Rafael Furcal has returned to South Florida from his second major league rehab assignment with the Suns.

The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players and a revised roster is attached.

Tonight Jacksonville sends out the right-hander Angel Sanchez (0-4, 4.99) for game three, while Montgomery will counter with unbeaten righty Jared Mortensen (3-0, 3.08).
