The Boston Red Sox have announced that OF Joseph Monge (YO-sef MOAN-hay) has been promoted to the Salem Red Sox from Low-A Greenville. Please note the following change:
ADD: OF Joseph Monge
Monge, 21, hit .338 with 3 HR and 13 RBI in 37 games with the Drive and is coming off four-hit game in his last appearance on Tuesday. At the time of his promotion, Monge ranked 5th in the South Atlantic League in batting average. He was Boston's 17th round pick in the 2013 Draft out of the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy in Puerto Rico. This will be Monge's first appearance at the High-A level.
Monge will wear number 3.
The Red Sox roster sits at the Carolina League maximum of 25 players with four on the disabled list.
