PEARL, MS - Brett Oberholtzer picked up his fifth-consecutive victory as the Braves defeated the BayBears 5-4 in front of 4,092 fans at Trustmark Park. The last M-Braves' starting pitcher to record five straight victories was James Parr in 2008.

In the win, Oberhotlzer (9-9) went six innings for the Braves (16-18, 41-63), giving up four runs, three earned, on six hits and six walks while fanning four.

Billy Bullock came on in the ninth to record his eighth save of the season. Richard Sullivan also worked two innings of relief, his fifth hold of the season.

Patrick Corbin (8-6) went seven frames for the BayBears (25-9, 63-41), allowing five earned runs on eight hits, a homer, and two walks. He also had four strikeouts on the night.

The M-Braves were first to get on the scoreboard. Antoan Richardson doubled and took third on a ground out in the bottom of the first. Ernesto Mejia then singled to left field, driving in Richardson and giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.

In the third, A.J. Pollock doubled and scored on a Paul Goldschmidt single to center field. Taylor Harbin then walked and Ed Easley singled to drive in Goldschmidt. An error by Mycal Jones in center field, allowed Harbin to come in on the play and extend Mobile's lead to 3-1.

Ed Lucas launched a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the fourth to make it a one-run game, 3-2.

The M-Braves then took a 5-3 lead in the fifth. Richardson singled and swiped both second and third base. Jones followed with an RBI-double before stealing third base. Donell Linares then walked and Mejia singled to drive in Jones. Willie Cabrera followed with a base hit to center, scoring Linares.

Pollock singled and Goldschmidt walked to start the seventh. After a pitching change, Harbin walked to load the bases for an RBI-single off the bat of Easley, thus closing the Braves lead to 5-4.

Left-hander Jose Lugo toes the rubber in Saturday night's series finale against the Mobile BayBears where he'll take on right-hander Jarrod Parker (8-6, 3.91). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
