Asheville Tourists News Release

Oakes was at his best Friday night. The Tourists starter worked all nine innings en route to a complete game 4-1 Tourists victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds. T.J. became the first Tourists pitcher this season to pitch a complete game.

Oakes surrendered a lead-off double in the bottom of the first inning, then sat down ten in a row before issuing a one-out walk in the fourth. The next batter grounded into an inning-ending double play sparking a string of 13 in a row sat down by T.J. Delmarva managed a pair of two out hits in the eighth, but the Tourists right-hander retired the next four Shorebirds hitters to

finish off his gem. Offensively, Asheville broke out to a quick start with two runs in the top of the first. Rosell Herrera plated Max White from third on an infield single and two batters later Herrera scored

when Francisco Sosa reached on an error. Asheville added one in the fifth on another Herrera single, this time scoring Ciriaco. In top of the eighth, Sosa connected with a two-out single that scored Tom Murphy from second. But the show belonged to Oakes as his notched his sixth win of the season.

The Toursits and Shorebirds are back in action on Saturday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
