GreenJackets Fall 12-2 against Intimidators

AUGUSTA, GA. - After letting the Intimidators jump out to an early lead, the GreenJackets appeared to be making a comeback in the bottom of the fourth. They put up two runs to cut their deficit to one. However, the GreenJackets offense stopped their as Kannapolis (28-42) went on to defeat Augusta (39-32) 12-2 Friday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

The Intimidators got on the board right away Friday night. In the top of the first, Kannapolis' Tim Anderson reached first on a throwing error by Gregorio, moved to second on a single by Jason Coats then scored on a single to right field.

Kannapolis added two more runs in the top of the third, giving the Intimidators a 3-0 lead against the GreenJackets.

Intimidators' Micah Johnson led off the inning with a double to left center field. Johnson then scored off Anderson's first professional hit, a single line drive to center field. After Johnson scored, Anderson added to the Intimidators lead by plating his second run of the night.

The GreenJackets put there only two runs of the night up in the bottom of the fourth.

Designated hitter Ben Turner led the inning off with a walk, advanced to second when third baseman Shayne Houck drew a walk and scored when Chuckie Jones reached on a fielding error by Anderson. Houck crossed home next when catcher Eric Sim hit into a sacrifice fly.

The Intimidators went on to put up five runs in the sixth, one in the seventh and three in the eight and tallied 14 hits.

Augusta will face Kannapolis tomorrow at 7:05 p.m.
