
Early Runs Hurt Braves in 5-1 Loss

Rome, GA - The Charleston Riverdogs beat the Rome Braves Friday night by a final score of 5-1at State Mutual Stadium in front of a crowd of 2,628.
Charleston scored all the runs they would need in the first inning. Gregory Bird had a two run double giving the Riverdogs the 2-0 lead. Charleston extended their lead in the sixth thanks to back to back doubles by Oh and De Leon making the score 3-0. The Riverdogs added another run in the seventh for a 4-0 advantage.
The Braves only run came in the seventh. Casey Kalenkosky led the inning off with a walk and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jose Peraza. Charleston added another run in the ninth for the 5-1 final score.
Brett Gerritse (6-4) earns the win for the Riverdogs, while Rome starter Frank LaFreniere (3-6) takes the loss for the Braves.
