Modesto Nuts News Release
Stockton, CA. - Jack Wynkoop heaved six great innings in the Modesto Nuts' 9-3 win against the Stockton Ports on Monday night at Banner Island Ballpark, their third straight win.
Wynkoop (W, 3-1) did not walk a batter and struck out seven in six innings against the Ports (10-15; 37-58). The lone run allowed by the southpaw was a solo home run in his final inning to Jose Brizuela.
Max White smacked a three-run shot in the fourth for the Nuts (10-15; 35-60) that got a little help from Brizuela. On a line drive to right, Brizuela leapt at the wall and had the ball bang off his glove and ricochet over the fence.
Kyle Friedrichs (L, 3-2) worked six innings for the Ports and allowed five runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.
Drew Weeks added a two-run double in the ninth. Forrest Wall and Omar Carrizales each tallied RBI as well.
Craig Schlitter (S, 1/1) worked the final two innings and did not allow a run to shut the door on the Ports.
The Nuts are now 6-0 against the Ports in the second half.
