Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA-- Isaac Anderson was sharp in his Cal League debut and the Quakes swatted two more home runs, as they downed Lancaster for a second straight night at LoanMart Field, beating the JetHawks on Monday night by a final of 8-3.

Erick Mejia and Joey Curletta each homered as part of a six-run third, helping give Anderson the support he needed to win in his first appearance since joining the Quakes from Great Lakes of the Midwest League.

Rancho actually opened the scoring in the first, as Mejia walked and scored on an Edwin Rios single, making it 1-0.

Mejia clobbered his second home run of the home stand and fourth of the year in the third, a two-run shot to make it 3-0 off Lancaster starter Josh James. Michael Ahmed followed with a double, then scored on a Matt Beaty double, giving Rancho a 4-0 lead. With Rios and Beaty on board, Curletta then followed with a three-run jack to center field, his 11th of the year to stretch Rancho's lead to 7-0.

The Quakes have now homered in a season-best 11 straight games and have 100 home runs through 95 games.

Anderson (1-0) went five full innings, allowing two hits and two walks, while striking out five.

He gave way to Yaisel Sierra in the sixth and the JetHawks immediately responded with their first run. Ramon Laureano, who had three hits on the night, opened the frame with a single, then scored on a two-out hit by Trent Woodward, making it a 7-1 game.

The Quakes got their final run of the night in the sixth, as James capped his evening with a rough inning. Devan Ahart opened the inning with a walk, then moved to second on a wild pitch. After a balk moved him to third base, James (7-3) uncorked another wild pitch, allowing Ahart to score Rancho's eighth run.

The JetHawks got two in the eighth off of Felipe Gonzalez to round out the scoring, as Jason Martin and Jamie Ritchie each had a run-scoring hit, making it 8-3.

Rancho (14-11, 56-39) now trails Lancaster by two games in the second half. The Quakes will look for three of four in the series on Tuesday evening, sending Dodgers' rehabber Yimi Garcia to the mound in his first rehab appearance. Josh Sborz (7-3) is scheduled to follow Garcia. Lancaster's Trent Thornton (5-3) will go for Lancaster in the four-game series finale.
