
Nuts' Jemiola Suffocates Giants in 6-1 Win

Modesto, CA. - Behind a stellar performance by Zach Jemiola, the Modesto Nuts took sole possession of first place in the North Division Second Half Standings after a 6-1 win against the San Jose Giants on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.
Jemiola (W, 5-3) tossed seven, shutout innings for the Nuts (59-50; 26-13). He only allowed four hits and walked one with six strikeouts.
The Nuts got to the Giants' (55-54; 25-14) starter Jason Forjet (L, 4-4) for four runs over five innings. Michael Benjamin went 2-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored. Rosell Herrera drove in a run on a third-inning sac fly. Ryan McMahon reached twice and cracked a RBI double, his California- League-leading 35th of the year. Drew Weeks walked twice and whacked a single in addition to an outfield assist from right at the plate in the third inning.
For the Nuts, the Blaze are up next. A four-game series begins on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in Bakersfield. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:25 p.m.
