Bakersfield, CA. - After falling into a first-inning hole, the Modesto Nuts never recovered falling 7-0 against the Bakersfield Blaze on Saturday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Helmis Rodriguez entered after that and struck out the first man he faced to finish the first on his way to 4.1 scoreless innings against the Blaze (2-1; 29-34)

Tyler Pike (W, 4-5) was good in six shutout innings. He had to work out of just one jam in the sixth when Forrest Wall recorded a two-out double. Wes Rogers walked and Shane Hoelsher smacked a single to load up the bases with two outs. Dom Nunez flew out to left to end the threat.

Gianfranco Wawoe added a two-run homer in the sixth. An error and two-out double added two unearned runs in the seventh for the Blaze.
