Texas Legends News Release

TULSA, OK - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), faced their first road challenge after a four-game win streak on their home court. Fighting for playoff contention, the Legends traveled to Tulsa to take on one of their conference rivals and try to end the 66ers' seven-game streak. After holding the lead for four quarters, the Legends allowed Tulsa to rally back in the final minutes, but the comeback fell short as James Nunnally sunk the game winner to push the Legends one step closer to their goal.

With a 16-0 start, the Legends set the tone for the next three and a half quarters. The Legends grabbed control out of the tipoff and never let go, but the Tulsa 66ers maintained their fight to the end. Despite being down 16 in the fourth quarter, the 66ers posted a 16-4 run to cut the lead to four with as many minutes left to play. Back-to-back turnovers by the Legends led to a jumper from Mustafa Shakur to tie up the game with 7.9 seconds on the clock. The Legends had given up 23 turnovers (closing in on a season-high), and after the final Legends' inbound, Mario Little tapped the ball from Nunnally threatening a game-ending error. Nunnally regained control and earned the final basket to take the Legends home with a 98-96 victory.

Fab Melo had a standout game for the Legends with a season-high 22 points, going 9-of-13, and 8 rebounds. Damion James led the team in rebounds with 11 total and added 16 points, while Nunnally totaled 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Little and Shakur each added 22 points for the 66ers, while Maurice Sutton came off the bench to grab 18 points and 13 boards.

The Legends will return home for a three-game stand kicking off with Maine at 7pm on Friday, March 14th. For tickets or information visit www.TexLegends.com.
