South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

South Bend, Indiana (August 7, 2014) NubAbility Athletics Foundation and the South Bend Silver Hawks are partnering to give a special 7-year-old Granger boy the opportunity of a lifetime.

Kyler Misiewicz, who only has one hand, will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch at the Silver Hawks' game Sunday, Aug. 10, against the Great Lake Loons. The team will also present Misiewicz with a variety of Silver Hawks gear. The game begins at 2:05 p.m.

Last month, Misiewicz participated in NubAbility Athletics Foundation's third annual All-Sport Summer Camp in Du Quoin, Illinois. The Southern Illinois-based nonprofit organization hosts the camp as a means of providing athletic training and confidence-building to limb-different children, who are missing limbs either congenitally from birth or through accident or amputation.

"When people ask Kyler, "˜How was camp,' he replies the same way each time. "˜Camp was awesome,' he tells them," said his mother Mary Fisher. "Kyler focused on wrestling, which he had never done before, during camp. He learned a lot about sports but perhaps even more important, he was surrounded by coaches, peers and families who assured him that he will be able to do anything he puts his mind to."

NubAbility campers were coached by a team of more than 30 limb-different athletes who have succeeded at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of their respective sports, including organization founder and Morthland College pitcher Sam Kuhnert and professional wrestler and former WWE superstar Zach Gowen.

"I'm proud of Kyler for all he has accomplished and the bright future he has ahead of him," Kuhnert said. "He has worked hard and has the right attitude to succeed. We're all thrilled to partner with the Silver Hawks and raise awareness of Kyler's story and the mission of NubAbility Athletics. We know there are other children in the South Bend area we could be serving, and we hope this will help us reach them."

"The Silver Hawks are honored to be able to participate in this special event for Kyler," said Joe Hart, President of the South Bend Silver Hawks. "We are constantly striving to provide special moments and memories for our guests. NubAbility Athletics Foundation is a great organization doing great things and I feel privileged that our organization is participating with them to provide this lifetime opportunity for Kyler."

NubAbility Athletics was founded in 2012. Last month's All-Sport Summer Camp included more than 70 limb-different campers from 25 states. For more information, visit www.nubability.org or www.facebook.com/nubability.
