Bees Fall to LumberKings in Opener

(Clinton, IA) The Burlington Bees dropped a 4-2 decision to the Clinton LumberKings in game on of a four game series on Thursday night, at Ashford University Field.

Bo Way led off the game with a walk and then scored from first when Eric Aguilera singled to left and the ball got past left fielder Tyler O'Neill, putting the Bees on top 1-0.

Clinton tied the game in the second, when Marcus Littlewood smoked a double and later scored on a Martin Peguero sacrifice fly to right, making it a 1-1 game.

The LumberKings got the bats in gear in the fourth inning. Marcus Littlewood led off the frame with a solo shot to right, putting Clinton on top 2-1. After a Joe DeCarlo double and a Justin Seager single, Martin Peguero singled in a run, upping the lead to 3-1. Chantz Mack flew out to center, deep enough to score Seager, making it 4-1.

Bo Way cut the LumberKings lead to 4-2 with a bases loaded walk in the seventh.

The Bees offense went 1-2-3 in the final two innings, falling in game one.

LumberKings lefty, Eddie Campbell (8-8) picked up the win while Bees' starter Yency Almonte (2-4) was charged with the loss. Ricardo Pereira (1) earned the save.

The Burlington Bees (58-57) and the Clinton LumberKings (51-63) on Friday night at 6: 30 PM. Daniel Hurtado makes the start for the Bees.
