DAVENPORT, Iowa - Beloit right-hander Lou Trivino held Quad Cities to one run on five hits in seven innings, and Snappers center fielder B.J. Boyd hit a two-run home run to help his team end a nine-game losing streak against the River Bandits with a 4-1 win in front of 4,242 at Modern Woodmen Park Thursday night.

Trivino (6-8) had lost each of his three starts this season against the River Bandits (23-23 second half, 58-57 overall) before Thursday, but he match ed a season high with seven innings of work, allowing five hits, two walks and an earned run with four strikeouts. He gave up a leadoff double by right fielder Marc Wik in the first inning but retired the next three batters. In the second inning, third baseman J.D. Davis hit a single to left field, but Trivino induced a double play. In the third inning, Wik hit a one-out double and scored on first baseman Chase McDonald's double to the left-center field wall. That was Quad Cities' only run, as Trivino faced one batter over the minimum in his last 4 1/3 innings. Four of the five hits Trivino allowed were doubles, as the River Bandits raised their league-leading total to 228.

River Bandits right-hander Adrian Houser (5-5) worked a perfect first inning and pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the second inning by striking out the side. With his first pitch of the third inning, Houser hit shortstop Melvin Mercedes, and Boyd then hit his fifth home run of the season to the DHCU On-Deck in right-center field for a 2-0 Beloit lead. Houser then retired nine of the next 10 batters to finish his outing after five innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts.

Right-hander Kevin Comer relieved Houser with a 2-1 deficit to start the sixth inning. He hit catcher Phil Pohl with a pitch, and first baseman Michael Soto singled for his game-high third hit. Third baseman Luis Baez put down a bunt that Comer fielded and threw to third base, but Davis missed the catch, and the ball went down the left-field line, allowing two runs to score for a 4-1 Beloit lead. Left fielder Ryan Mathews then doubled to right-center field, but Wik threw to McDonald, who threw to catcher Brian Holberton to get Baez at home.

After Mathews' double, Comer set down the next 11 Snappers in order, including five on strikeouts. He finished four relief innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits.

After Trivino kept the 4-1 lead through seven innings, Snappers right-hander Tyler Vail worked around a two-out single in a scoreless eighth inning, and right-hander Sam Bragg worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth inning for his sixth save.

Beloit (16-29, 46-69) had lost each of its last nine games against Quad Cities, with its last win coming May 4. The Snappers also won for the first time in 10 games at Modern Woodmen Park, where the Snappers last won Aug. 31, 2013.

Quad Cities continues its series with Beloit at 7 p.m. Friday at Modern Woodmen Park. River Bandits right-hander Troy Scribner (7-1 as a starter in the New York-Penn League) is scheduled to make his Midwest League debut against Snappers left-hander Matt Stalcup (3-3).
