NCFC's game against Charlotte Independence originally scheduled for Wednesday has been moved to Saturday, October 3 at 7 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park.
NCFC still has the opportunity to clinch a playoff berth, with Memphis 901 FC being the only team in Group G that has been eliminated thus far. If NCFC wins their next three matches and Birmingham Legion FC loses to Memphis 901 FC on Saturday, October 3, NCFC would hold first place in Group G. Total wins is the first tiebreaker if teams are tied in points after 16 games.
With the season on the line, Dave Sarachan's team must defeat the New York Red Bulls II as the two teams play in Richmond, VA at City Stadium. The Red Bulls have a record of 5-9-0 and are members of Group F. The Red Bull's last played on Saturday, September 25 in a high-scoring match against Philadelphia Union II. New York pulled off the 5-4 win despite playing a man down due to a red card. Omar Sowe led the way for the team, scoring in the 13th and 19th minutes. The Red Bulls had 13 shots on target in the match.
NCFC pulled off a big win against the Group G leader, Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday with goals from Manny Perez and Dre Fortune. A team that has scored most of their goals in the second half this season, NCFC switched it up and came out firing against Birmingham. Both of the team's goals came in the first 26 minutes of the match.
