Here are your three key points:
This 2020 campaign has been unusual due to the pandemic. Along with it, the club has had its difficulty on the pitch. The Toros enter Wednesday's match with a 12-game winless streak - the longest in club history. In addition, the Toros scored multiple goals recently for the second time this season. Despite not being able to earn a win yet, the Toros have not given up hope as they return in search for the first win-ever against Austin Bold on Wednesday night in front of their home crowd.
Ian Hoffmann has now started in three matches with the club and has shown a difference on the pitch. On September 5th against San Antonio, Hoffmann recorded his first assist with RGV after setting up Kyle Edwards to goal. Edwards, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley alumni, scored his first career goal at San Antonio FC. The young forward has shown to be dangerous every time he steps on the pitch, totaling seven shots, two on target, eight key passes, seven created chances and one assist in 222 minutes played.
Austin Bold continues their playoff race, ranking second in Group D, but are tied with 19 points with FC Tulsa. RGV and ATX meet for the third time this season which the Bold have not been defeated by the Toros. Austin has conceded 24 goals while holding three clean sheets and has scored 28 goals. The squad is led by Billy Forbes with six goals, 31 total shots and has created 19 chances. Xavier Baez continues to be a threat for the opposing teams as he has created 27 chances while scoring three goals and contributed thus far five assists. By the goal, Diego Restrepo has totaled 26 saves and has held two clean sheets.
