North Carolina A&T State University "Cold Steel" Drumline to Perform at Halftime

GREENSBORO - On Monday, August 27th, at 7pm the Carolina Cobras will be hosting their first-ever championship game in the Greensboro Coliseum. This is the Carolina Cobras first season with the National Arena League. The Cobras will be facing the Columbus Lions who played in the championship game for the last four year including the 2017 National Arena League Championship Game in Jacksonville, FL. During the halftime show of the game on Monday, the A&T, Cold Steel, drumline will be performing. The Cobras will be offering a Buy One Get One Free Ticket Offer for all college and high-school students. Students must bring verification of school enrollment with their student ID to the Coliseum Box Office to receive this BOGO deal.
The A&T drumline, Cold Steel, consists of 50 members that currently attend A&T University in Greensboro. This drumline is unlike any other. Drumline at A&T started in 1918. In the early 1940's, almost half of the band volunteered to play at the Navy Pre-Flight School in Chapel Hill and later at Pearl Harbor. In 1947, the drumline began to implement their military-style high-stepping precision marching. This was also when they implemented dancing and field shows into their performances. In 2002, a feature film, Drumline, was released starring Nick Cannon. The story was inspired by the A&T drumline. They also inspired the sequel, Drumline: A New Beat. The A&T drumline has also often competed in the Honda Battle of the Bands and came home with a trophy in 2014.
A&T's drumline is revolved around the sense of family among the members. The drumline is focused on its legacy and traditions and this helps to further its sense of family from one generation to the next. The A&T drumline uniform comes with a sense of pride among A&T students, drumline members, and the Greensboro community.
