LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Music, Irish-themed vendors, Mass on the field, pipe-bands, and much more. It's all a part of the New Jersey Irish Festival, coming back to Lakewood on June 13th.

The BlueClaws announced that all tickets for the event are now on sale through the BlueClaws Box Office.

The 39th annual event, New Jersey's longest running Irish festival, will once again be held at FirstEnergy Park and hosted by the Lakewood BlueClaws. This year's event begins at noon, three hours later than in year's past.

"This event is sure to be another great celebration of Irish culture and heritage," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "It's our third year hosting the event and it's definitely going to be our biggest and best yet."

The eight-hour event will once again feature Catholic Mass on the field, several children's activities, a pipe band competition, Irish step-dancing and more.

Unforgettable Fire, a U2 tribute band, will headline a list of seven bands scheduled to perform that day. Now performing for almost 15 years, they are one of the longest running U2 tribute bands in the United States.

"We're very excited for what should be another great Irish Festival," said Patrick Giblin, chair of the NJ Irish Festival committee. "Between the musical entertainment and other activities, it's going to be a great day for the entire family."

Also included will be a wide array of Irish-themed vendors, as well as items in the food court and a great selection of Irish beer.

Tickets for the event are $8 in advance and $10 the day of the event. Children, ages 12 and under, will be admitted free. Tickets are available by calling the BlueClaws Box Office at 732-901-7000, option 2, or at BlueClaws.com.

The 39th annual New Jersey Irish Festival came to FirstEnergy Park after 36 years in Holmdel, New Jersey in 2007. For more information about the event visit their website at www.nj-irishfestival.com.

The Lakewood BlueClaws welcomed 425,166 fans to FirstEnergy Park during the 2008 season which upped their eight-season total to 3,595,378. They have led the South Atlantic League in average or overall attendance in each of their eight seasons.

The team recently announced that all children ages 12 and under, will eat for free at every 2009 home game.
