Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - For the second straight night the Drive provided fans with a thrilling walk-off win. However, on Tuesday night they needed 15 innings to defeat the visiting Hickory Crawdads, 2-1, at Fluor Field. It was second longest game in Drive history.

The Drive (4-2) were aided by five Crawdads' (3-3) errors, two of which came in the final inning. Ryan Lavarnway led off the 15th by reaching base on shortstop Edward Martinez's throwing error, followed by Kade Keowen's bunt single. After Pete Hissey hit an infield single to load the bases, Oscar Tejeda accounted for the game-winner when he reached on a fielding error by Matt West.

The trio of Fabian Williamson, Armando Zerpa, and Lance McClain combined to hold the Crawdads scoreless over the final 10 innings, including retiring the final 25 batters in order. Williamson, who allowed Hickory's final base-runner with a single in the seventh, tossed 4.2 innings of one-hit ball, striking out three.

Zerpa was perfect for 4.1 innings with two strikeouts before turning the game over to McClain in the 15th. The southpaw improved his record to 2-0, fanning a pair in his lone inning.

What seemed to be a distant memory by the end of the game, pitchers Brock Huntzinger and Cliff Springston were in a duel at the start. Huntzinger allowed a run on four hits while striking out three in 5.0 innings. Springston surrendered just an unearned on two hits in 7.0 innings.
