Nix Named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month

SUGAR LAND, TX - The Sugar Land Skeeters announced today that former Skeeter and newly-acquired Triple A Charlotte Knights pitcher Michael Nix was named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month for May 2013.

During the month, Nix went 5-0 in five starts with Sugar Land. His 0.00 ERA (0ER/30.1IP) led the Atlantic League during that span, while he accumulated 28 strikeouts and just six walks for the Skeeters.

Nix made eight total appearances (seven starts) with Sugar Land in 2013, going 5-1 with a 1.81 ERA (9ER/44.2IP). His 40 strikeouts led the Skeeters' staff and ranked tied for fourth among Atlantic League pitchers prior to his acquisition by the Chicago White Sox organization in early June.

Nix was the fourth member of Sugar Land's 2013 club and 14th overall to be signed by a Major League organization. His signing also marked the 17th overall Skeeters player to move from the Atlantic League to another professional baseball league since Opening Day 2012.
