SUGAR LAND, TX - The Sugar Land Skeeters announced today that Skeeters pitcher Dustin Richardson has signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization and will join its Triple A Salt Lake City club. The announcement was made by Skeeters Manager Gary Gaetti and Director of Operations Michael Kirk.

Richardson, 29, made six appearances with the Skeeters this season, including one start. He posted no record and a 1.04 ERA (1ER/8.2IP), recording five strikeouts. In 2012, the left-hander went 1-0 with a 3.77 ERA (13ER/31IP) for Sugar Land, fanning 31 batters over 17 appearances (two starts). Over eight career minor league seasons, the Kansas native is 30-22 with a 3.99 ERA (219ER/493.2IP) and 537 strikeouts in 211 games (53 starts).

Selected by the Red Sox in the fifth round of the June 2006 Draft out of Texas Tech University, Richardson spent parts of two seasons in the big leagues with Boston (2009-10). During his Major League stints, he maintained a 3.31 ERA (6ER/16.1IP) with no record over a combined 29 relief appearances.

Richardson is now the fifth member of Sugar Land's 2013 club and 15th overall to be signed by a Major League organization. Richardson's signing also marks the 18th overall Skeeters player to move from the Atlantic League to another professional baseball league since Opening Day 2012.
