Nimmo wins "Player of the Week"

Amarillo, TX 1/4/10 - The Central Hockey League has awarded Amarillo Gorillas forward David Nimmo as the league's "Player of the Week" today.

(Courtesy Bob Hoffman) Nimmo helped his team to a 3-0-1 record last week scoring points in every game. The Saint Albert, Alberta native had two-goal games in the first three games of the week scoring the game winning goal in two of those contests. He finished the week by assisting on the game winning goal in the Gorillas 3-1 victory over Tulsa on Sunday. The 2008 CHL Rookie of the Year finished with six goals and an assist during the week. Nimmo has 14 goals and 11 assists in 23 games this season and is a +14.

In recognition of his achievement Nimmo will receive a special gift from Oakley.

It's a new year and the Gorillas are now offering $10 tickets for the remainder of the 2010 season! The next home game is this Saturday, January 9th beginning at 7pm in the Amarillo Civic Center. Amarillo will hit the road tonight to face the Arizona Sundogs this Wednesday, January 6th. The game will be broadcasted on 1440 AM ESPN Radio and CHL-TV beginning at 7:55pm CST. Fans will have an opportunity to win an autograph photo of Gorillas All-Star defenseman Andrew Smale during the second period of the game broadcast by answering a trivia question on the Gorillas' Facebook page.
