Odessa Jackalopes News Release


(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes begin 2010 with their longest road trip of the season, eight games, that will take the team to Mississippi, Wichita, Corpus Christi, Rio Grande Valley, and Arizona before returning home.

Last Week's Record: 2-1-0

Season Record: 25-5-3

Thursday vs. Texas, 4-2 Win

Kory Karlander scored a pair of goals and Alex Dunn added three assists in the Jackalopes win. Joel Martin stopped 19 of 21 shots. It was the first time in three meetings between Odessa and Texas that the home team won the game.

Friday vs. Amarillo, 4-3 Loss

The Jackalopes allowed all four of Amarillo's goals in the third period after holding 2-0 and 3-1 leads in the game. It was the first time all season the Jacks lost a game when leading after two periods of play.

Saturday vs. Corpus Christi, 5-1 Win

Odessa opened the game with three first period goals en route to their win over the IceRays. It was the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams and the first one that wasn't decided by one goal.

Friday @ Mississippi, 7:05 PM

It will be the only between the Jackalopes and Riverkings this season. Last year the Jacks were 1-2-0 against the Kings. Mississippi is currently tied for third place in the Northern Conference. Odessa is 3-0-2 against North teams this year.

Saturday @ Wichita, 7:05 PM

Odessa's only meeting of the season against Wichita will also be the final game ever played in the Kansas Coliseum. The Thunder owns the worst record in the CHL at 3-25-3. Last season, Odessa lost their only meeting against the Thunder in Wichita.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
