Arizona Sundogs News Release


The Arizona Sundogs (10-18-3) fell to the Amarillo Gorillas by a 4-2 mark on Tuesday, Dec. 29 before dropping their league-leading 11th one-goal loss of the season to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, 3-2, in the team's Annual New Year's Eve game. The Sundogs responded on Saturday, opening 2010 with a convincing 5-1 win over the 'Bees.

Arizona sits just six points back of seventh-place Corpus Christi with a game in hand, nine points back of sixth-place Amarillo with three games in hand and 11 points back of fifth-place Rio Grande Valley and the Southern Conference's final playoff spot.

Sundogs Storylines:

- The Sundogs lead the Central Hockey League with 11 one-goal losses.

- Jon Landry was selected to his first professional All-Star game on Thursday, Dec. 31. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound d-man leads all Sundogs defensemen and ranks third in the CHL in scoring among blue-liners with 25 points (5g/20a). His 20 assists rank second in the league among defenseman and he leads the team in power-play points and assists (12). The Montreal, Quebec, native is riding a team-high five-game point streak (1g/5a).

- Kevin Gardner currently owns a four-game point streak (1g/4a). The Edmonton, Alberta, native ranks second on the team in scoring with 28 points (11g/17a).

- Torren Delforte has a three-game point streak snapped in a 3-2 loss to the Killer Bees on December 31 but rebounded with a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over the 'Bees on January 2.

- Linus Fagemo has collected 13 points (5g/8a) in his last 12 games and three goals in his last two games. After a slow start to the season, the Trollhatten, Sweden, native is averaging nearly a point per game with 22 points (11g/11a) in 26 games.

- Veteran defenseman Chris Bartolone has seven assists in his last seven games and is riding a two-game point streak (2a).

- Rookie Joey Sides had his first multi-goal game of his pro career with two goals in a 5-1 win over Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Jan. 2. He also added an assist in the win and now has 16 points (6g/10a) in 26 games and ranks fifth in the CHL in scoring among rookies.

- Arizona's penalty kill ranks sixth in the CHL at 84.24%. The Sundogs have been shorthanded 203 times, second-most behind league-leader Texas (217).

- The Arizona Sundogs are pleased to present their Fourth Annual Ladies Night on Monday, Jan. 25 at Hassayampa Golf Club in Prescott.
