SALISBURY, MD - Connor Brogdon threw six scoreless innings and Quincy Nieporte drove in both runs as the BlueClaws topped Delmarva 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to take three of four from the Shorebirds at Perdue Stadium.

Addison Russ earned his third save by retiring all four batters he faced to finish off the win for the BlueClaws. Lakewood improved to 9-8 to get back over .500 while Delmarva fell to 12-5, 2-5 against Lakewood and 10-0 against everyone else.

Quincy Nieporte opened the scoring in the fourth inning with an RBI single to score Jack Scheiner. Scheiner had singled off third base after Delmarva starter Zac Lowther had retired the first 11 hitters he faced. With two outs and two strikes on Nieporte, Schiener stole second and scored on Nieporte's RBI single.

Lakewood added another run in the sixth inning on another RBI single from Nieporte to put the BlueClaws up 2-0.

BlueClaws starter Connor Brogdon (1-1) went six innings without allowing a run. He gave up one hit and three walks while striking out four. Brogdon, who gave up five runs in 1.1 innings in his season debut, has now thrown 11 scoreless innings over his next two starts.

Shorebirds starter Zac Lowther (2-1), meanwhile, set aside the first 11 hitters that he faced but came out after five innings, allowing one run on two hits.

Jonathan Hennigan got out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh inning but allowed a run on a groundout in the eighth before Russ came on to close out the game.

Nieporte and Scheiner both had two hits for Lakewood in the win.

The BlueClaws head to Hagerstown and open a four-game series with the Suns on Monday night at 6:05 pm. LPH David Parkinson (1-0) takes the mound Monday night for the BlueClaws opposite LHP Nick Raquet (0-2).
